Taken: The compelling journey of the lengths a father goes to, in order to save his own flesh and blood

Pierre Morel the director who brought us controversial films like ‘From Paris with Love’ is back with a new action packed, teeth grinding action thriller. Taken is a compelling journey of the lengths a father goes to, to save his own flesh and blood. Liam Neeson who plays Bryan Mills a over protective, ex US spy is forced to save his daughters life after seventeen year old Kim (Maggie Grace) is abducted by Albanian human sex traffickers who plan to sell her on to rich Arab Business men. She was abducted along with her friend Amanda (Katie Cassidy) after holidaying in Paris, Bryan’s father instincts kick in and he flies to Paris to piece together who kidnapped his baby girl.

The movie has the conventional outstanding visual effects that you would usually expect from an action thriller like, explosions, guns, car chases but the plot is everything but predictable almost breath taking. One thing I definitely loved about the film is the way it never failed to leave you in suspense and wanting more, even after the movie was finished i was left staring at the screen endlessly praying for it to carry on. This is by far one of the best Action Thriller movies released in the twenty first century, it's the lovable  talented Liam Neeson who makes the movie a true pleasure to watch. He brought the actor to life and played him perfectly, i would not be surprised if he was nominated for an Oscar after this class A performance.

The downside to the movie is the negative portrayal of Albanian and Arabs which could be seen as almost racist. This is not the first time Morel has targeted a group of Muslims, when he also portrayed Pakistanis as terrorists in this movie 'From Love with Paris'. Pierre is from France, a country that has a very black and white view on religion especially Islam, It is not doubt that Morels, morals come into questioning whether he really has a vendetta against Muslim due to his constant negative portrayal of them.

Taken is targeted at people aged 18+, due to it's graphic nature, excessive violence/gore, profanity and casual use of alcohol, drugs and smoking. It is a movie that will definitely give you and your friends something to talk about, me and my friends all took turns to mimic Liam in his famous line "I don't know who you are, but if you don't let my daughter do..I will find you, i will kill you" hours after watching the movie. Fathers and even older brothers will definitely know how to relate to a character like Bryan Mills. Not only is this movie extremely entertaining and thrilling but it is also very educational, teaching the youths of today that this world can be unsafe and it is best to take precautions to look keep yourselves and others safe. The music can be very dramatic and fast paced adding to the adrenaline your feel as Bryan confronts the traffickers one by one. It is clear that Bryan Mills, a one man army is on a mission and he will not stop till he completes it.

 All in all, this movie is a definite must see and I promise that you will not be bored out of your mind, more like blown out of your mind. The unpredictable storyline will make you want more and more like a fish needing water to survive.

Taken will get a well-deserved 4.5 out of 5 stars from me, Ciao
